First Competition First Win

It a great feeling when you know all your hard work and dedication to win my very first competition. I've found the winning formula but still need much work to rise up in rank and skills.

Can't wait to get my handicap down to I've officially qualified for the KPRM Annual Championship from the 24th - 26th June, a challenging 3 days tournament which I've never experienced.

Passion and Perseverance

" The Amount of your Desire will Determine the Outcome of Your Success "

How you live your life is really entirely up to you. I'll summarize mine around three words. I believe in living  courageously, passionately and to persevere in reaching any goals you set forth. Everyone's got dreams, some are willing to turn them into passion, some becomes extremist.

It takes lot of courage to pursue a dream, a passion and even simple day to day goals and task. I wake up every morning believing in my passion and that in return, everyday it rewards me with the satisfaction I seek from it.

The phrase above will be my reminder of how successful I really can be. I hope it will inspire you too.

Two is better than One - Good Golf Coaches that makes the difference

This is dedicated to all my fellow golfing friends who have always believed in self learning to be GREAT.
The reason I highlighted the word GREAT, is coz everyone I know like to kid them selves, when they tell people they just want to be GOOD, which in fact they actually want to be GREAT even if they are aiming to win their buddie's $$.

I was on the same boat until i've made up my mind to change the way I train, well you guest it, the results changes as well. I've decided to do my homework, talking to people, use the internet. some private investivation work to find out who would best fit this profile as a coach in line with my goals.

What am I looking for in a coach : -
A good coach teaches good sportsmanship.
A good coach will respect all of his/her players and teach them how to respect each other.
A good coach will take extra time with those who need it.
A good coach will find the best in each player.
A good coach will teach his players how to be a team.
A good coach will have patience.
A good coach will remember it’s a game whether they win or lose.
A good coach doesn't get caught up in the outcome of the game but keeps their focus on
A good coach continually stives to become better by seeking advise and training.
A good coach thinks and acts positively not negatively.
A good coach understands that adversity is a part of the game and life.
A good coach is prepared and doesn't just show up.
A good coach honors the game by showing respect for the rules, opponents, officials and players.
A good coach always thanks their players for their committment and effort.
A good coach recognizes that they are the leader of the team. This not only includes players but

He needs a better picture,
My decision to work with Dean Hartman, Director of MST Golf Academy was one of the best decision I've ever made. Shared my goals and gotten the necessary feedback from him.

While I can't testify for others, I can say this, 1 hour with him is equivalent to 1 year of bashing balls to perfection. I've finally found my solution to quickly improve within a short period of time. Its not magic or tricks, its REAL. The knowledge and characteristics he has as a teacher was well suited for me.

I strongly recommend you consider engaging with a golf pro and do your due diligence in finding the right one for yourself. You may also have chat with Dean or any of his highly qualified instructors

Time to head out for more lessons with him.

My First Home Club - Rahman Putra Golf Club (KPRM)

After waiting, saving, more waiting, and saving, finally managed to secure myself the best option for a Golf Membership Club. Thanks to the people around me that supported the idea.

As I mentioned to my fellow new found KPRM friends, The home club will allow me to train better and be more competitive in Golf. I feel this is one way to improve my golf, I'm sure there are many other ways I can go about improving. Having a good facility is crucial for competitive golf. Apart from Glenmarie's Pro Tour Golf Learning Centre, Rahman Putra allows me to do more on the course.

My days starts from 6am on a daily basis where it involves a combination of either of the following skills - short game, long game, course managements strategies, strength training, mental training. Not forgetting to juggle between a full time job and a part time job in between. While its tiring or some may even call it madness or crazy, it really doesn't feel that way, when you pursue your passion.

I do admit, somedays, I just shut down like someone just hit a human CTRL - ALT - DEL button. LIGHTS OUT! I realize when you get the people around you to support you, progress seems to come along with it.

Looking forward to 6am. ( that was mad me talking )

Keeping Track of Your Golf Progress

I've been searching for apps or software out there that helps me track my progress. Its a challenge it self when you realise your support team is not as strong compared to other great players out there. Time is precious for me, and I'm sure for many others. Hence its very important find tools that helps you get to your goals in the most efficient way.

Here's a snapshot of my most recent ( and limited ) games played.
For now I've found Project Birdie to be the easiest but not necessary the best. The site allows me to monitor my average putts, fairway hits, GIR, and even a journal for my personal training/practice. Until I find other better ones, my wishlist from Project Birdie would be
1) Mobile Version that syncs with the Web version
2) Export, print feature

If you have any better suggestions, please do share.

Maybank Malaysian Open 2011

I'll be supporting our local Malaysian contingent and also other favourite international players. Few of my favourites are Gavin Kyle Green, Martin Kaymer, Rory Mcllroy, Louis Oosthuizen, Matteo Manassero, Noh Seung-Yul and ThongChai Jaidee

Date : 14-17th April 2011
Venue : Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club (KLGCC) MAP
Website : Maybankmalaysianopen.com

World Number 1 Martin Kaymer, reigning Open Champion Louis Oosthuizen, 2005 US Open winner Michael Campbell and 2004 Open Champion Todd Hamilton and the recent Augusta Masters 2011 Championwill be showing up in full force together with the top players from The European Tour and the Asian to contest a US$2.5million prize fund. Noh Seung Yul is also back to defend his title. It will be interesting to see how he plays with 4+1 major champions.

The Maybank Malaysian Open is going to be the most interesting golf event with the recent Augusta Masters Champion Charl Schwartzel, battling it out again with Rory Mcllroy who is currently facing the test of his character for seeing his Masters Trophy slipping from his hands from the 10th hole onwards. From the interviews, you can see he is so matured in handling the situation, people's expectations of him and his own vision of his future.

Before THE DAY ( Practice Sessions )
Martin Kaymer Hitting his Driver.  Noticed his personal club fitter with hi-tech sensors. Benefits of being World No.1

Matteo Manassero finishing up with his wedge shots accurately dropping them next to the 100yards board.

I noticed a key difference with some of our local players compared to the international players in terms of ball striking and the level of focus on their practice sessions. I hope we get to learn from the experienced and aim to be Better. Go Team Malaysia.

Congratulation Matteo Manassero. He displays a certain kind of calmness through this game, while enjoying a joke or two. Nice to receive a great birthday gift of over USD 400k. Here is what his score card looks like. A great eagle on the 10th ( 4th Day )
